The alliance for Global Education is non-profit
organization established by the Arcida University and the Butler University,USA
with a view to promote international education and provides an opportunity for
American undergraduate students to experience different cultures abord
programme in India by organizing three academic programme in 2009 i.e.two
semesters of four minths duration and one summer program of two months.

with a thriving students scene,Pune also has a wealth of traditional culture
and parforming arts resources,hosts many of the country’s most forward-thinking
NGO’s and was recently named in forbs’ magazine as one of the word’s top three

bringing new,fascina dimensions to its already multi faceted urban landscape.

ASSOCATION WITH THE DES,PUNE AND AIIS,NEW DELHI
The alliance’s pune programme is associated with the
deccan Education society(DES)and the American institute of Indian
studies(AIIS).the decan society is hosting this program in the historic fergusson
college.
CARRICULUM FOR SEMESTER COURSE
The curriculum will consist of two compulsory courses:
CONTEMPORATY INDIA(3 CREDITS)
A political,historical and social survey of post
independence india as complex yet unfied multi cultural,multi-linguistic,religious
plural democracy,a rising major global power and so on to be the word’s largest
country.
INTARNSHIP OR DIRECTED RESEARCH(3CREDITS)
in an area of the students interest.this will include
training in field study consept during the coursework period.students will be
offerd opportunities within pune’s most exciting NGOs,the international
business and technology community,and institutios of the national
repute.students may also choose to work with a faculty member to pursue
directed field research,create a documentary or work within to work with a
faculty member to pursue directed field research,creat a documenentary or work
within many of the think-tanks and research institutes that give PUNE its an
edge over others cities in india.
THREE ELECTIVE COURSE(9 CREDITS)
in addition,students will take any three of the
following:
SOCIAL
JUSTICE:National,Caste and Gender through Film.
PUBLIC HEALTH:Environmental Issues.
HINDI LANGUAGE:Issues in political economy
&Development.
students may choose to take a third elective for a
total of 18 credits;the basic curriculum yields 15 credits.in addition,the
programme will offer students the option
of talking co curricular,non credit classes in yoga,kathak dance or
Bharatnatyam,classical vocals a musical instrument etc.
STUDENTS HOUSING:
As a university town,many local Indian family possess
students apartments with an independent access,which offer the students some
autonomy and also,an experience of Indian way of living.
